Talk Abstract: The research area concerning switched systems and switching control is first reviewed together with some existing results. Then, the talk is focused on presenting a switching control strategy for both stabilization and L2 gain design of switched linear systems and switched affine systems, where every single mode (subsystem) does not have desired property (stability or desired L2 gain). The design of the switching laws is based on obtaining a stable convex combination of the subsystem matrices and vectors.
Bio Sketch: Guisheng Zhai received his Ph.D. degree in control theory in 1996 from Kobe University, Japan, and is currently a professor at Department of Mathematical Sciences in Shibaura Institute of Technology, Japan. He held a visiting position in the University of Notre Dame, from August 2001 through July 2002, and has been visiting Purdue University since April, 2016. His research interests include large scale and decentralized control systems, robust control and applications, switched systems and switching control, networked control systems, multi-agent intelligent systems, etc. Dr. Zhai has published more than 100 journal papers and 150 peer-reviewed international conference papers. He is on the editorial board of several journals, including International Journal of Control, International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, IET Control Theory & Applications, and Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering. He is a senior member of IEEE, and a member of SICE, ISCIE, JSST and JSME.
